My story and how I got here
From sketchbooks to designing
Creativity has always been my thing. From sketching little animals as a kid to experimenting with digital art, video editing, and animation, I was obsessed with bringing ideas to life.
That passion led me to study graphic design—first in high school, then earning my bachelor’s degree in creative communication. But as I stepped into the real world of design, I realized something was missing.
Finding My Place in Design
Stepping into the real world of design was a wake-up call. I struggled to find my place—marketing banners felt forgettable, social media graphics were fleeting, and nothing felt meaningful. I didn’t want to create designs that disappeared in a week—I wanted to craft something lasting, tangible, and real.
Then, one night, while sitting in the bathtub, staring at my favorite bottle of shampoo, it hit me. This little bottle—the way it looked, the way it felt in my hands—shaped how I saw the brand. It made me choose it over everything else on the shelf. The design did more than look good; it told a story, built trust, and created loyalty.
That’s when I realized: Packaging design and branding is powerful.
And I wanted to be part of that.
Diving headfirst into branding & packaging
From that moment on, I became obsessed. I spent every free hour learning, experimenting, and refining my craft. By my final year of university, I had found my thing.
It wasn’t just about making something look good—it was about strategy, storytelling, and creating an experience. That passion landed me a job right out of college in a marketing agency. But even though my work was well received, something was missing.
Breaking free: building something meaningful
I tried switching jobs, hoping to find the right fit. But every time, I ended up feeling creatively drained. The work was lacked purpose. I wanted more than cookie-cutter designs churned out for the next big campaign.
I wanted to create brands that truly meant something.
I wanted to help small businesses stand out, thrive, and tell their stories.
I wanted to see my work live on — not be forgotten in a marketing folder.
So, I took the leap. I quit, moved across the state, and started over from scratch. I found loyal clients who believed in my vision and gave me the freedom to build Maplemuse Studio into what I always dreamed of—a place where branding isn’t just about aesthetics, but about strategy, emotion, and impact.
